Micro- teaching, a training technique, is a relatively new innovation in teacher education and development. It is a scaled down teaching encounter in which a teacher teaches a small united group of five students for a short period of 5 to 20 minutes. Such a situation offers a helpful setting for an experienced teacher to acquire new teaching skills and to refine old ones. The important features of micro-teaching are: the micro element, technical skills of teaching and teaching strategies, the feedback element, safe practice-grounds, the teaching models and the research laboratory. By adopting micro-teaching in a systematic and meaningful way, teacher development can be revamped in a big way in India.
