Developing the Soft Skills of Engineering Students Through Various Activities
Today, organizations are not merely looking for skilled professionals but are on the look out for competent professionals. They expect candidates to possess English competency, communication, presentation skills and the ability to work as part of team, besides their technical know-how. This changing scenario has made English Teachers of engineering colleges to play a dual role. Besides teaching English as a subject for comprehension and expression, they also have to act as soft skills trainers and shape the communication skills and personality traits of their students to enable them excel the expectations of industries.
Soft skills training, especially in technical institutions is very much indispensable, since it is not included in the academic curricula and this paper mainly aims at developing the soft skills essential for engineering students to stand out in their placements, through various activities.
